Trauma-Informed Care in Practice
Health professionals are among those who engage with the largest number of people every day, often meeting individuals during moments of illness, distress, loss, or difficult life experiences. While continuously working under pressure to provide essential services, it can sometimes become easy to overlook how trauma may shape a person’s emotions, behaviors, and responses.
Recognizing the importance of bringing trauma-informed approaches into everyday healthcare practice, Sunita Foundation organized a Trauma-Informed Care Workshop for health professionals representing all 13 wards of Melamchi Municipality, Sindhupalchowk.
Facilitated by a psychologist at Sunita Foundation with expertise in trauma-informed care and psychosocial support, the session encouraged participants to pause, reflect, and reconnect.
Participants actively engaged in the discussions and activities and shared that the session was a meaningful reminder of the value of understanding trauma-not only in the people they serve, but also in their own approach and practice as healthcare providers.
