Working with diverse stakeholders along with the women, children and the communities they live in, the protection programme of SF aims to improve the lives of women and children in the country and is guided by relevant national plan of action and the UN SDGs. It focuses on preventing and responding to abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence affecting women and Working Thematic Areas children which includes sexual exploitation and abuse, trafficking, child labor, child/early or forced marriage and other harmful traditional practices. Under this thematic area, SF works on 5Rs: Rescue, Repatriation, Rehabilitation, Referral and Reintegration. SF does internal (in-country) rescue as well as external (cross border) rescue with the help of government authorities/local police and peer organizations. SF will run short term temporary residential facilities and services like health support, counseling support, education support, legal support, vocational and life skills training, income generations/ economic reintegration/ livelihood among others after rescue and repatriation under rehabilitation provision. Combined with these with referral provisions as and where applicable and with vocational trainings, reintegration provision will follow in the form of social recovery and reintegration either in the family or on the communities of their choices with having adequate assessment mechanisms and financial support in place. SF also provides pen-shelter support to the survivors focusing on the women and girls working in the adult entertainment sector (AES).
